
Maureen Whitehead:
Maureen has been coaching youth soccer in the Ithaca Community since 2000. She has been active both local and at the State level.
Maureen is currently the Director of Coaching for the Girls’ Program with the TC Waza Soccer Academy as well as the Head Coach for the U12G and U14G teams. She is Director and Head Coach for the Youth Development Program (YDP). She is also the Girls’ Varsity Head Coach at Ithaca High School.
Prior to her current roles, she has coached with many boys’ and girls’ teams with Ithaca Youth Bureau, Ithaca Youth Soccer Club, TC United Soccer Club as well as the Girls’ Varsity Head Coach at Lansing High School. Maureen was very active with our State Association serving as an Associate Director of Coaching, Head Coach in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) as well as on the Instructional Staff teaching USSF courses; Youth Modules, E Certifications and National D License.
Maureen holds the USSF National B License, USSF National Youth License, USSF National Goalkeeper License, FA Psychology for Soccer, NSCAA National GK Diploma and NSCAA National Youth Diploma.
In 2006, she was named Coach of Year by NYS-West as well as Female Coach of the Year by the Ithaca Journal.
Her coaching philosophy is “Create an environment that will motivate each player to reach out of their comfort zone; create a setting that is fun, safe and age-appropriate, providing a balance of challenge and success.”
Away from the soccer field, Maureen enjoys spending time with her family, running, hiking, traveling and playing with her dogs.
